Ainsley's New Trick

This is actually from before Christmas but I just ran across it again and thought it was post-worthy. . .

When Boys Babysit

I left Ainsley with Stuart and Ty for just a little while so I could get some Christmas things done, and this is what I found when I returned . . .she got some new glasses and

she ended up wearing Ty's old Spiderman costume. I should have known better!

The Real Christmas Card

This is the Christmas card I made with paint.net (free photo-editing software) and planned to have printed and send to everyone. When I sent one to be printed, it turned out really dark and the brown looked black, and there wasn't time to send it to a bunch of different places to see if it would come out better if I had it printed somewhere else, so I had to just get one of the generic ones from the photography place. So the lesson I learned is don't wait until the week before Christmas to print your Christmas cards!

Poor Ainsley!

We have had a rough couple of days. Ainsley got a cold along with her new tooth, and she is not feeling well. It's like I have a totally different baby - she is normally in a good mood most of the time but she has fussed almost constantly since Sunday morning. I hope she feels better by Christmas!

First Tooth!

Ainsley got her first tooth today! It's the lower center left one. (not sure if that makes sense) I haven't been able to get a picture yet but I'm working on it:)

Watching Survivorman

I am aware that the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under 2 not watch any tv, but Ainsley was just SO cute laying with Ty while he was watching Survivorman on Saturday I didn't want to move her.

All I Want For Christmas . . .

We took Ainsley to the mall today to have her picture taken with Santa. I wasn't sure how she'd do, but he was an exceptionally nice Santa and she seemed very happy sitting with him :)

Four Months Old

Ainsley had her four month checkup today! She is 15 pounds 10 ounces, and 26 inches long. She showed Dr. Jeff her best trick (putting her foot in her mouth then trying to put it in his) but she still had to get shots :( They really didn't seem to bother her this time - here she is doing some serious tummy time later this evening.

Big Girl Stroller

Ainsley is finally big enough for her Maclaren stroller! I love that thing. It's so cute (pink and brown, which matches her EVERYTHING) and it's easier to push around the neighborhood and on short walks than the big one is. I think Ainsley likes it because she can see stuff better since she's not quite as closed in. These pictures are her before our walk - she actually fell asleep while we were out so I guess the stroller is comfy, too!

Cookout

Before the boys had their camping adventure we all gathered around the $10 grill for an evening of family fun in the outdoors. Sort of. We were just in the backyard, but that's the closest I've ever come to camping. Ainsley must take after me, because she only lasted about 5 minutes before she decided it was her bedtime. Here's a picture of Ainsley "camping".Ty really enjoyed it. He finished a book while Stuart and I were messing with the grill.
He was all bundled up and he had some hot chocolate to help him stay warm. Nana and Papa (in Minnesota where it's really cold) will be amused to know that it was only about 50 degrees that night.
This is our first attempt at cooking the hot dogs. I had to put this picture up because it makes me laugh. We did finally get the charcoals figured out and were able to cook our hot dogs correctly. (After someone nearly burned our house down by adding lighter fluid to the fire.)
We made s'mores for dessert. They were SO good!

Man vs. Wild

At 9:23pm, Stuart and Ty battened down the hatches, said goodnight, and headed into "the wild". (A.K.A. the backyard.) At this point I gave them one hour before they would want to come inside.
I decided to take one last picture of the two of them before they turned off their lantern and went to bed...
...little did I know, they weren't done taking pictures. Boys will be boys!
20 minutes later, Ty was OUT.
WOW! With only one bathroom break (I won't say where, but nobody ever came into the house) they survived all night, in the sub 50 degree weather. Stuart claimed it was due to the extensive wilderness survival training he recieved in the British Special Forces. I suspect he aquired his limited skills in the boy scouts.
The first Nicholson campout was a success!

Fish Watching

Ainsley loved watching the fish at the zoo. Probably because most of the other animals were too far away for her to see. I wish we had an aquarium at home for her to look at!

The Zoo

We went to the Fort Worth Zoo on Saturday with Nana and Papa. Here are some of the highlights . . .Ainsley watching the meerkats
Ty feeding the birds
an alligator
Texas coastal birds
Ainsley talking to Nana
Everybody had a great time!
